Diesel Power Systems – The Most Preferred Source for Backup Power

The global market for diesel power systems, specifically generators, has experienced significant growth owing to the incessant high demand. Experts anticipate it would encounter stagnancy no time soon. The generators are essentially compact machines that transform mechanical energy into electrical energy. It utilises diesel as fuel for combustion. This step helps in igniting the generator and rotating the shaft, thereafter generating electricity. The mechanism supplies electricity when disruption to the primary supply occurs.

Functioning Mechanism of Diesel Generators

Alike ac1100, a diesel generator essentially generates electric energy with the help of a diesel engine. The Genset converts mechanical energy (that a diesel engine generates) into electricity.

An alternator comprises –

  • a stator – it is essentially a stationary set of electrical conductors that are wound in coils over an iron ore
  • rotor – it is a moving constituent that produces the rotating magnetic field

The latter generates a moving magnetic field around the former. This induces a voltage difference between the windings of the stator. It is this way that the generator produces electricity.

The features of diesel generators –

  • Power Output – There is a wide range of options for power output diesel generators. The ones used in industrial settings are usually large and procure vast amounts of power for a long time. Since industries use it, the power demand is high too. On the other hand, domestic diesel generators are small and provide power to a limited range.
  • Control and Power Management Mechanism – The advanced models of diesel generators transfer the source of power generation from the grid to the generator itself. Some versions of the machine display warning messages for low fuel and other performance troubles.

The modern models of the diesel generator offer an extensive range of analytical data that increases the efficiency of the appliances. It serves as a backup power supply for countless offices, homes, shops, etc.
